Is it possible that the battery in the boot of my Audi A6 is causing my son to suffer headaches?
I have a 2007 Audi A6 1.9TDi saloon. My son sits in the back seat behind the driver and has complained of headaches after having been in the car for prolonged periods. He has not done this in any other car. We have investigated a large number of potential issues, one of which was electromagnetic fields generated by the car. We hired a testing device which showed that the levels of EMF's was high, and this appeared to relate to the fact that the battery is located in the boot and a larger cable runs from the battery, through the passenger compartment to the engine.
Further research suggests that we would need to remove the chassis bonding of the battery and run a duplicate cable from the battery to the alternator alongside the existing cable to ensure that the magnetic fields that both cables produce cancel each other out. Does anybody know where I can get this done, or alternatively could you suggest similar sized vehicles where the battery is located at the front, rather than the rear of the car?

I don't advise doing any such thing to the car, so it's a matter of replacing it with a car that has the battery under the bonnet, like a Mondeo.
