What's classified as wear and tear?
My 2011 Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TDI has just cost £1798 to get the clutch rebuilt and the flywheel replaced after the slave cylinder exploded and contaminated the clutch. My local dealer terms this as 'fair wear and tear'. Yet at 55,000 miles, I term as daylight robbery, what do you think?

Common problem on Scirocco 2.0TDIs. Slave cylinder failure is also an extremely common problem generally. Gradual failure of slave cylinders causes the same sort of clutch wear as an older driver dragging the clutch, but manufacturers and dealers invariably blame driver error.
