I bought a 1986 Bentley Eight from a wedding car company. I test drove and everything seemed ok.
After getting car home and driving for some distance a very bad judder was felt under heavy braking. I took the car to a Bentley specialist and it turns out there is £3000 of work needed to make the car roadworthy, including rear brake discs and suspension bushes.
I feel that the owner knew about these problems as they are not new to the car, and I feel that the car had been standing garaged for a lot longer than the couple of months the owner stated.
His invoice to me with the company heading on it states no warranty offered or inferred due to the age of the car.
I paid £7,325 for the car in good faith and feel that I should get some compensation. What are my rights in law? This was not an auto trader but it was offered for sale through a classified ad on Ebay. The car was bought for cash outside of Ebay.

If the car was sold to you as roadworthy yet is in unroadworthy condition then even though the vendor was not a dealer you do have rights against him. Talk to Trading Standards.
